The Mets’ pitching depth took a hit Saturday.
The team announced reliever Robert Gsellman was headed to the 10-day injured list with a tight right triceps – and issue he has been dealing with recently – and Walter Lockett was being promoted from Triple-A Syracuse to replace him.
There was a touch of good news as J.D. Davis is feeling a lot better after experiencing right calf soreness while running to first base Friday night, manager Mickey Callaway told reporters Saturday before the Mets faced the Royals again in Kansas City. It’s expected Davis will be available to pinch hit Saturday.
